Spicy Honey Garlic Shrimp Skewers

These Spicy Honey Garlic Shrimp Skewers are the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and spicy flavors. The shrimp are marinated in a honey garlic sauce with a hint of heat from chili flakes, then grilled to perfection. They’re great as an appetizer, side dish, or a main course. Quick, easy, and full of flavor!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to your preferred spice level)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Skewers (wooden or metal)
  • Fresh cilantro (for garnish)
  • Lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions:

Prepare the Shrimp Marinade:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the olive oil, honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, lime juice, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Adjust the chili flakes to your desired spice level.

Marinate the Shrimp:
Add the shrimp to the marinade and toss them to coat evenly. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to absorb into the shrimp.

Prepare the Skewers:
If you’re using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 10-15 minutes to prevent them from burning on the grill. Once the shrimp are marinated, thread them onto the skewers, about 4-5 shrimp per skewer.

Grill the Shrimp:
Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque, with a slight char.

Serve:
Once the shrimp are grilled, remove them from the skewers and transfer them to a serving plate. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges on the side for an extra burst of citrus.

Tips:

  • For Extra Flavor: Add a little smoked paprika or cumin to the marinade for a smoky depth.
  • Customize: You can add vegetables like bell peppers or onions to the skewers for added color and flavor.
  • Make it Spicy: Add more chili flakes or even a drizzle of sriracha sauce for an extra kick.
